Cosmo’s Factory is the album that the Dude has on cassette in his car stereo in The Big Lebowski, so for many of us, this is reason enough to love the album. Proving that it’s a Coen Brothers favorite, the album is also mentioned in their movie A Serious Man. It’s easy to see why. It’s a parade of hits. “Before You Accuse Me,” “Travelin’ Band,” “Run Through the Jungle,” “Who’ll Stop the Rain,” “I Heard it Through the Grapevine.” The list goes on. Released in July of 1970, the album topped the charts in six different countries.
